Another MP leaves SDKU party and their party caucus in Parliament dissolves

On Wednesday Martin Fedor has decided to leave the Opposition SDKU-DS party as well as its caucus. Martin Fedor, the former Defence Minister for the SDKU party, is said to be about to join Radoslav Procházka’s Siet party, however he rejected these claims. Fedor's departure from the party caucus will mean its demise, as not enough legislators will belong to it.

SDKU-DS is now left with only seven lawmakers, while at least eight are required under the parliamentary rules for a caucus to stay alive. Even though SDKU garnered 11 parliamentary seats in the 2012 general election, the party has since lost five lawmakers. SDKU is currently without any vice-chairs following the decision of Fedor, Viliam Novotny and Ivan Stefanec to step down after the September congress. The party also lacks a financial committee and a general secretary. In addition, the party recently lost a part of its youth organisation New Generation due to discontent with the policies of leader of the SDKU-DS party Pavol Frešo.
