Prime Minister Fico travels to Brussels for EU summit

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) traveled to Brussels on Thursday morning to attend a meeting of European Union (EU) leaders.

The 27 EU leaders will discuss the bloc's competitiveness and follow up on the extraordinary summit held on March 6 regarding Ukraine and the future of European defense.

Presidents and prime ministers will also address migration, the latest developments in the Middle East, the future multiannual financial framework, multilateralism, and other global issues. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will join a working lunch during the discussions.

Alongside the European Council meeting, a Eurozone summit will be held in an inclusive format to discuss economic issues and competitiveness.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to Slovakia on Friday, March 21.
