Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) on Thursday morning left for Warsaw, where he is meeting his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski and the chief of the foreign affairs Parliamentary Committee Pawel Kowal. The topics discussed include strengthening of bilateral relations, cooperation of regional groupings such as Visegrad group and security policy. Meanwhile, Polish diplomatic chief Radoslaw Sikorski confirmed that US arms deliveries via Jasionka airport have resumed.
“A common topic is also illegal migration that is why I will visit Frontex headquarters where I want to ask how Frontex manages solving the problem of illegal migration,” said Blanar ahead of their common talks.
The headquarters of the European border agency Frontex is located in Polish capital Warsaw. According to the Slovak Foreign Minister, recent statements of Defense Minister Robert Kalinak did not damage the Slovak-Polish relationship. 3 weeks ago, Robert Kalinak during a visit to Poland in connection with the arrival of Russian troops in Czechoslovakia in 1968, questioned the importance of defense.
Minister Blanar is, on the contrary, happy to follow the agreement signed by Kalinak and Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak: “On strengthening cooperation between the defence industry of the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Poland, where we see great scope and interest of the Polish side in this cooperation.”
In addition to his meeting with the Polish Foreign Minister, Blanar will visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum, where he will commemorate the victims of totalitarian regimes. At the end of his trip, Blanar will meet representatives of the Slovak expat community at the Slovak Embassy in Warsaw.
