Information has just surfaced that a 38-year man identified only as Tibor from Prievidza (Trenčín region) may spend up to five years in prison for attacking the same police officer twice at a polling station in the town during the local elections on Saturday, Trenčín Regional Police Directorate spokesperson Elena Antalová told TASR on Tuesday.
A police patrol was sent to the polling station following Tibor's call to the police emergency line claiming that the local electoral commission was preventing him from taking part in the elections. “When the patrol arrived on the scene, the man became vulgar and aggressive towards members of the commission and the police officers. He was asked to leave the polling station, but he didn't comply. He continued in his vulgar and aggressive behaviour, so they took him away from the room by force”, said Antalová. Tibor attacked a police officer for the first time within the building, and for the second time after the officers freed his hands outside. “He punched the police officer in the face, causing him injuries to the nose and superciliary ridge [bone beneath the eyebrow]. The injuries didn't force him to take sick leave, however”, said the spokesperson.
