Fico: Slovakia not losing trust of west

Speaking on Slovak radio's major politics programme 'Sobotné dialógy', Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said on Saturday, that Slovakia has a very good reputation in the world. “They know that we're constructive players who, however, fight for our national interests.”

The Prime Minister rejects the opposition's criticism of the actions taken by MEPs Lubos Blaha and Erik Kalinak both from his party Smer-SD. Despite Blaha’s meeting with Russia’s foreign intelligence agency and Kalinaks statements about Russia as a more trustworthy partner than Ukraine, Fico doesn't think that Slovakia is losing the trust of its Western partners. "If we didn't have the trust of our Western partners, I'd simply not be able to achieve what we've now achieved within the European Union," said the premier, stressing that communication and dialogue are important for conflict resolution.
