Providing information may be subject to a fee

An amendment to the Act on Free Access to Information has come into effect as of 1 March. The provision of information will now be subject to a fee. The legislation was vetoed by the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, but the Parliament overrode the veto and re-adopted the amendment. The new legislation also extends the deadline for processing requests for access to information from eight to twelve working days.
