Slovakia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Red Cross for the period 2025-2028. The continuation of the cooperation was confirmed by Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljarič Egger, at their meeting in Geneva on Tuesday on the side-lines of the ongoing 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
Blanár told Spoljaric Egger about the humanitarian aid Slovakia has been providing to the civilian population in Ukraine, which he said has been felt since the beginning of the war. In the context of the conflict in the Middle East, he highlighted the role of the Red Cross in the process of prisoner exchange and its efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
As part of his two-day working visit to Geneva, Blanár visited the European Organisation for Nuclear Research and addressed the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council and the Conference on Disarmament.
