Fire brigade viewed as most credible institution in Slovakia

The Firefighter and Emergency Corps (HaZZ) is viewed as the most credible institution in Slovakia, with 89 percent of Slovaks trusting it, according to a survey carried out by the Statistics Office's subsidiary Infostat.

The second most credible institutions are the local government and the Statistics Office, both trusted by 69 percent. Next came the Slovak army, which was deemed trustworthy by 66.8 percent, the President's Office (56.9 percent), churches and religious communities (55.6 percent) and the Police Corps (51.5 percent).

Less than 50 percent of people trust the European Union (49.5 percent), NATO (47.5 percent) and the government (37.5 percent). Parliament was viewed as trustworthy by 31.4 percent of the respondents. The survey showed the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) as the least trustworthy institution, with only 24.7 percent of the respondents expressing faith in it.

The survey was conducted on a representative sample of 1,098 respondents between January 27 and 31, 2025.
