President Peter Pellegrini received on Monday afternoon Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) at his request at the Presidential Palace to discuss the current political situation and the possibilities of addressing it, spokeswoman for the head of state Patricia Medveď Macíková told TASR.
The ultimatum given by the premier to his partners from the Voi-SD party and the Slovak National Party (SNS) to sort out the situation with the defectors from their parties and bring a solution to restore a permanent governing majority in Parliament will expire on Monday. Otherwise, the prime minister declared that he'll submit to the president his proposals for personnel changes in the government. In the morning, the coalition council met at the Government Office and party representatives discussed further procedure in addressing the problems in the coalition.
