As of the end of 2024, the European Commission (EC) had 67 infringement proceedings against Slovakia, mainly related to incorrect transposition or application of legally binding acts of the European Union (EU), according to the annual report on Slovakia's EU membership for 2024, which the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry submitted to an inter-ministerial comment procedure.
Compared to 2023, there were eight more proceedings against Slovakia. "The Slovak Republic is one of the countries with a higher number of infringement proceedings under Articles 258-260 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union," said the ministry.
