Representatives of the coalition parties met for a Coalition Council session on Monday morning to discuss further steps in addressing problems within the governing coalition.
The deadline given by Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to his partners from Hlas-SD and the Slovak National Party (SNS) to resolve the situation with the renegades in their parties and to find ways to resume a continued governing majority in Parliament will expire on Monday. Otherwise, the premier is ready to submit his proposals for personnel changes in the Cabinet to President Peter Pellegrini as early as on the same day.
Vice-premier and Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (an SNS nominee) said during the weekend that some ministries might be taken away from both SNS and Hlas-SD, indicating that one change might concern the Tourism Ministry headed by SNS nominee Dusan Keketi.
