Slovakia joins declaration on human control of AI weapons

Slovakia, along with 24 other countries, has joined the Paris Declaration on maintaining human control over AI-powered weapon systems, the communications department of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has announced. The declaration is one of the key outcomes of the Global AI Summit held in Paris on 10–11 February.

The declaration highlights the responsible use of AI in the military sphere, emphasizing the commitment to its deployment in accordance with international law, particularly humanitarian law, and in a manner that upholds international peace, security, and stability.

The declaration reflects Slovakia's commitments from previous summits on the responsible use of AI in the military field, as well as international conventions and UN General Assembly resolutions. A total of 25 states have endorsed it.

The Paris AI Summit underscored the need to establish scientific foundations, solutions, and standards for more sustainable and socially beneficial artificial intelligence. Slovakia was represented at the event by President Peter Pellegrini.
