Slovakia ranked 59th in the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) by Transparency International, dropping 12 places from its best-ever ranking of 47th in 2023. Transparency International attributes the decline to the government’s weakening of anti-corruption measures, citing the dissolution of the Special Prosecutor’s Office and the National Criminal Agency. Among Slovakia’s neighboring countries, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland ranked higher, while Hungary and Ukraine performed worse.
