In connection with the regular five-year cycle of the Schengen evaluation in 2024, Schengen Coordinator Olivier Onidi was received by the Advisor to the Minister of the Interior for Internal Security, Ladislav Csémi.
Five areas were evaluated: internal security, integrated border management, visa policy, personal data protection and returns. Commitments to ensuring security and stability are key for both Slovakia and all Schengen countries. Slovakia wants to actively participate in their enforcement, and the next step after the adoption of the final report of the Schengen evaluation for 2024 will be the development of an action plan to implement the recommendations.
The Slovak side highlighted regular working meetings at the regional level focused on the prevention of secondary migration and measures in the fight against cross-border crime. Representatives of the Member States and the European Commission participated.
