Education Minister Tomáš Drucker met with teachers from the Nitra region to discuss low salaries, teacher shortages, and school safety. The meeting, held at the Slovak University of Agriculture, was the first in a series of planned discussions across Slovakia. Teachers stressed the need for better salaries to address teacher shortages, with some principals forced to hire underqualified staff. The rising number of students with serious behavioral and psychiatric issues was also a concern, with teachers lacking support from both parents and mental health professionals. Drucker mentioned the need for legislative changes and outlined a planned 7% salary increase for teachers in 2025 and 2026.
