Czech-Slovak relations not as bad says Czech Foreign Minister

Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) had an informal meeting with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky in Prague on Sunday. "We held a relatively pleasant conversation about practical matters for an hour," said the Czech minister, adding that this attests to the fact that Czech-Slovak relations are not as bad as some media reports may suggest.

During their meeting, the two ministers also touched Friday's (January 31) statements by Slovak Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD), who during his New Year's meeting with diplomats accused Czechia of interfering in Slovakia's internal political affairs, turning directly to Czech Ambassador to Slovakia Rudolf Jindrak. At his meeting with Blanar, Lipavsky therefore strongly rejected the claim that the Czech Republic would interfere in the internal affairs of the Slovak Republic in any way.
