Premier: Criminal prosecution launched in case of alleged coup

Criminal prosecution was launched in the case of an alleged planned coup, Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said on a private TV JOJ 24's discussion programme on Sunday.

"You can launch criminal prosecution either in the matter or against a specific person. In this case, criminal prosecution in the matter was launched," said Fico. Following his visit to the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS), President Peter Pellegrini called Fico and proposed convening the Security Council meeting.

Fico noted that one person is currently undergoing asylum proceedings in connection with the case and that the state is preparing his expulsion. At the same time, 10 people, including Georgian National Legion leader Mamuk Mamulashvili, were banned from entering Slovakia, said the premier. He repeatedly criticized the opposition, the non-governmental sector, as well as the media.
