President Peter Pellegrini addressed diplomats and international representatives, stressing the need for Slovakia to navigate evolving global challenges. He highlighted the rise of national interests in security, energy, and migration, urging the EU to adapt, especially in response to China and the U.S.
Pellegrini reaffirmed Slovakia’s commitment to EU and NATO membership and that it is crucial for the country's economic and territorial stability. He warned that the EU might need to take greater responsibility for its own security, which would also affect Slovakia. Addressing global tensions, the President called for sustainable energy solutions and condemned selective rule changing in international relations. According to Pellegrini, the global politics should not be dictated solely by powerful states but should consider smaller nations' interests. Strengthening multilateral institutions should be essential for managing modern diplomatic challenges, he added.
