MP Szalay faces criminal complaint over COVID-19 vaccination

Slovak opposition MP and doctor Tomáš Szalay was questioned by police following a criminal complaint filed by doctor Peter Lipták. Lipták accused Szalay of endangering public safety through mass COVID-19 vaccinations held at the National Football Stadium in Bratislava. Szalay described the mass vaccination project as his greatest achievement, with nearly 200,000 Bratislava residents receiving their vaccinations at the stadium. He emphasized that this initiative helped save lives during the pandemic. Lipták argued that bringing people to the stadium posed a risk of exposure to the virus. Szalay’s lawyer, Peter Kováč, disagreed, stating that all necessary pandemic measures were followed and that the accusation of endangerment was nonsensical. The police have not yet initiated criminal proceedings, and police spokesperson Katarína Bartošová stated that they are still investigating the matter.
