President Peter Pellegrini will convene a round table of leaders of the three coalition parties and three of the opposition parliamentary parties to discuss the foreign affairs orientation of Slovakia, according to the President Office's press department.
"I find it of extraordinary importance for us to be able to discuss the foreign policy of our homeland around the round table, with attendance from across the entire political spectrum," declared the head of state. "Despite a longstanding consensus on this topic, foreign affairs policy has become a significant bone of contention in domestic politics and, lately, even a reason for the organisation of protests and the polarisation of Slovak society. Because of that, I'd be glad to see us discuss the issue together in the Presidential Palace," he said.
