Coalition lacking 2 MPs

Coalition's Hlas-SD party expelled MPs Samuel Migal and Radomir Salitros from its ranks at its congress on Friday.

Party leader and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok recently stated that the congress will be a great opportunity "to sit down calmly and openly clarify our opinions". This was seen as a response to four Hlas-SD members, including Samuel Migal, who have expressed dissatisfaction with the direction in which the party is going and have requested a meeting with Sutaj Estok, who stated that the congress will allow all party members to voice their opinions.

Expelled party member Samuel Migal published on a social network that he and Radomir Salitros, as well as MPs Jan Ferencak and Roman Malatinec (both Hlas-SD), won't take part in any vote in Parliament as of the expulsion of the duo from the party.

Without these four votes, the governing coalition no longer commands parliamentary majority.

"It is with concern that we learnt of Voice-SD chair Matus Sutaj Estok's statements about us, which are not based on truth and are slanderous. Instead of discussion, we register increased interest of police and intelligence services in us," reads the statement.

The four legislators underlined that they've cared about the preservation of democratic values and the governing coalition.

"We ask Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to address these problems without delay, so as to end the uncertainty plaguing the society. Under such pressure, we won't take part in any further parliamentary vote until the situation is resolved," added the text.
