According to Yar, security is the most important topic of her mandate. Together with the new Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, she wants to work on strengthening common defence cooperation within the Union, as well as a "strong European pillar" within NATO. Laššáková justifies her interest in serving on the committee on the grounds that the EU is "becoming a federation of arms", which she believes is not a good way to go.
Monika Beňová (independent MEP/Smer-SD) and Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová (Renew Europe/PS) were elected to the Committee on Public Health (SANT). According to Beňová, the establishment of the committee was important due to the increase in diseases and the insufficient and uneven availability of medicines and treatments in the member states. According to Cifrova Ostrihoňová, the Slovak Republic is one of the EU countries where people live the least number of years in good health. The MEP appreciated the fact that leveling the differences between countries on this issue is becoming a priority for the European Parliament.
Martin Hojsík (Renew Europe/PS) will be the only Slovak MEP to be a full member of the Special Committee on the Housing Crisis in the EU (HOUS). In addition to more affordable housing for young people, he believes in creating quality jobs in the renovation or construction of new homes. Monika Beňová is to be a substitute member of the special committee.
Branislav Ondruš (non-attached Member/Hlas-SD) will be a substitute in the special committee for the European Democracy Shield (EUDS).
The creation of the new committees was decided by the European Parliament in December on the proposal of the leaders of its political groups and EP President Roberta Metsolo.
