Slovak politicians have shared their reactions to Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. President Peter Pellegrini congratulated Trump, hoping that his administration will seek diplomatic solutions beneficial to Slovakia and the U.S. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok highlighted the importance of peace in Europe, especially concerning Ukraine and Russia.
From the side of opposition, KDH emphasized the importance of transatlantic cooperation and urged Trump to focus on peace, stability, and the strengthening of economic ties with the European Union. Meanwhile, PS called for a clear strategy from the Slovak government regarding its relations with the U.S. under Trump’s leadership. According to PS, it is important to maintain Slovakia’s place within NATO and the EU.
