An extraordinary parliamentary session with the aim of holding a no-confidence vote in Prime Minister Róbert Fico begun on Saturday evening, and at the time of releasing this news it is still going on.
The session was requested by the opposition MPs, who claim that “the (governing) Smer-SD party under Fico's leadership has been creating a system conducive to supporting corruption and clientelism, and it's been shifting the country from democracy of Western type towards oligarchy. A narrow group of people are getting rich while most people are becoming poorer,” said Ľubomír Kaník from the SDKU-DS party. After all the lawmakers registered to give a speech are done, debate will begin. PM Fico claimed that Smer-SD stands ready to debate for three days if that's what the Opposition believes is right. According to him, it’s only a theater before the local elections. Once the dismissal of Prime Minister Robert Fico ends with a final vote, a new extraordinary session should begin, this time concerning the dismissal of the Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška (Smer-SD).
