A special Parliamentary session on Slovakia's foreign alignment failed to open for the second time on Tuesday, Januray 14. Only 65 MPs were present, while the initial attempt had 66 attendees. Parliament's deputy speaker Peter Žiga postponed the session to Wednesday morning for a final attempt. Opposition parties PS, KDH, and SaS called for the session in response to Prime Minister Robert Fico’s visit to Moscow and his remarks on Ukraine following the cessation of Russian gas transit through its territory. The session aims to address questions to Fico and Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár about Slovakia’s foreign policy.
