Slovakia’s success rate in major European grant projects like Horizon Europe is declining due to a lack of unified national priorities in science and research, Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) head Pavol Sajgalik told TASR.
While Slovakia engages in bilateral cooperation, Sajgalik noted the absence of a coordinated national policy, leaving the country struggling to compete on platforms dominated by stronger lobbyists. Many consortia form before calls are published, further limiting Slovakia's chances.
Sajgalik emphasized the need to define clear scientific priorities to secure stronger partnerships within the EU and improve Slovakia’s standing in grant competitions.
