Average Slovak's net income 43% Lower than EU Average

The average Slovak has a disposable income that is 43 percent lower than that of the average European citizen, TASR learnt from Katarina Lepiesova of GfK agency. Slovakia was placed 23rd out of 42 countries in this regard, maintaining its position in 2013.

The average net income per person in Slovakia was measured at €7,537 per year, which translates into an annual available income of €40.8 billion for all Slovaks. All Europeans combined received €8.83 trillion to spend or save, or an average of €13,112 per person. There are large differences between individual countries. Liechtenstein was in first place, followed by Switzerland and Norway. Meanwhile, Slovakia was placed better in the ranking than all of its neighbours bar Austria. Bratislava region was well ahead of the country's remaining seven regions, as its purchasing power was 40 percent higher than the countrywide average. Prešov region was bottom, 16 percent short of the national average.
