President's Office receives Zvolenská’s official resignation

Slovak President Andrej Kiska has received Health Minister Zuzana Zvolenská’s resignation in writing, head of the President’s Office communications department Roman Krpelan told TASR on Tuesday.

“The president will decide shortly as to when he'll accept that resignation and who is to be entrusted with heading the ministry”, said Krpelan. Zvolenská resigned from her post on Monday at the urging of Prime Minister Robert Fico over the shady procurement of a CT (computerised tomography) scanning device by Alexander Winter Hospital in Piešťany (Trnava region) which appeared to be grossly overpriced and supplied by a company with ties to Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška. Fico said earlier on Tuesday that the issue of who will take over by Zvolenská is premature at this point. He admitted that Vice-premier for Investments Ľubomír Vážny will head the ministry on an interim basis for several days.
