Social partners call for dialogue with Health Ministry

Slovakia's Council for Economic and Social Partnership is pushing for constructive dialogue with the Health Ministry to resolve the escalating healthcare crisis caused by mass doctor resignations. Labor Minister Erik Tomáš said that safeguarding the lives and health of citizens must take precedence over disputes between the Health Ministry and the Doctor’s Trade Union. The government recently approved emergency legislation allowing for the declaration of a critical healthcare shortage. It requires doctors to provide care during such emergencies. According to social partners, it is an extreme measure and they call for negotiations to avoid its implementation.

Union leaders and employer representatives talked about the crucial impact of the crisis, including reduced healthcare access and economic consequences. The Medical Trade Union Association criticized the government's approach and according to them, the MPs are imposing forced labor instead of solving the issues.
