Regular flights between London and Poprad resume

Four regular flights per week will connect the eastern Slovak town of Poprad with London following a relaunch of the service on October 26, TASR learnt on Tuesday.

“The resumption of regular flights to London means new opportunities for our passengers not only as far as London goes, but it also creates more opportunities for connections to more destinations”, said Poprad-Tatra airport chief Ivana Herkeľová. Tuesday saw the second flight on the route following the resumption of the service on Sunday. The airport chief added that the new flights to London's Luton airport hold extraordinary importance for local tourism, jobs, sports, and cultural events. Poprad's airport has signed a contract with no-frills air carrier Wizzair for five years, while at least the first year is guaranteed regardless of profits. “It's hard to estimate the number of travellers per year, but as long as it goes as it did on Sunday and Tuesday then we'll be satisfied, as the planes were nearly full”, said Herkeľová. The Airbus 320 aircraft can carry 180 passengers. The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
