Slovakia could receive a portion of the money that the European Union is planning on investing into projects of energetic infrastructure. In the years 2014 – 2020 the EU should divide a total of €145 billion among such projects. Slovakia is one of the most attractive countries from the point of view of development of the energy sector and could therefore acquire part of these funds.
This stems from an international energy summit which was organised in Prague by the local British Embassy. “Central and Eastern European countries (CEE) have great commercial potential in the area of energy and low-carbon economies, especially when it comes to nuclear energy. Slovakia is planning on finishing the construction of two nuclear reactors in Mochovce and shutting down two reactors in Jaslovské Bohunice. This is also why possible cooperation and business with local businesses is very attractive for British companies”, stated Undersecretary of the Department of Energy & Climate Change, Baroness Verma. The UK is looking to build new sources of electricity that could produce some 60 gigawatts and a quarter of it should come from nuclear energy.
