Slovak MEP Csáky mistaken for a Hungarian MEP

A row broke out over a letter written by members of the European Parliament to French President Francois Hollande in which ethnic-Hungarian SMK party MEP Pal Csáky was indicated as representing Hungary and not Slovakia, Pravda daily reports. The letter was sent to the French President by 38 MEPs including Csáky at the beginning of September.

The lawmakers praised the French president for blocking the delivery of Mistral amphibious assault ships to Russia. Chairman of the ethnic-Hungarian SMK party Jozsef Berenyi claims that the description of Csáky as an MEP from Hungary was nothing more than an error. The daily notes that an MP of the governing Smer party called on Pal Csáky in July of this year to admit that he has acquired Hungarian citizenship.
