The health insurance company Dôvera is asking doctors to notify their patients that they are debtors of the health insurer and therefore should be entitled only to emergency health care. According to Dôvera’s CEO Martin Kultan, such a provision of information to patients is the legal obligation of doctors.
He further said that this concerns only those debtors who have not paid health insurance premiums for at least three months. Some doctors have expressed their opposition to the request arguing that their job is to treat patients not to act as debt collectors. The Health Care Supervision Office is going to carry out supervision on the insurance company because of the controversial collection of arrears.
