Apple Day is an annual celebration of apples and orchards, held on October 21. It is celebrated mainly in the United Kingdom, but it has also some connections to Slovakia where the name for apple is “jablko” and an apple tree is “jablon”.
Last week at the premises of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ottawa there was an opening of an exhibition of art works by famous Canadian artist of Slovak origin Yana Yablonovsky, called "Love That Connects Us". Yana Yablonovska grew up in Czechoslovakia, where the origins of her artistic career date back.
