Slovak mountaineers killed in avalanche named

Nepalese authorities confirmed the death of two Slovaks killed during an avalanche on Nepal’s Annapurna mountain on Tuesday, October 14.

Slovak mountaineers Jan Matlák and Vladimir Švancara have been confirmed dead by the Slovak Interior Ministry spokesperson Ivan Netík, with the ministry preparing to send a special Government plane to bring the bodies home, along with eight Slovak tourists who were rescued alive and transported by helicopter to the city of Pokhara. The authorities in Nepal also confirmed the death of three Nepalese sherpas who were assisting with the ascent. This information was also confirmed by the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry.
