Avalanches in Nepal killed more than 20 people, among them 2 Slovaks

After a snowstorm and subsequent avalanches around a tourist path that leads to the 10th highest mountain in the world, the Annapurna in Nepal, 85 mountaineers are missing and 29 have been proclaimed dead. On Thursday Nepalese authorities confirmed that 2 of the mountaineers that have died are Slovaks.

The website Expedition.sk has released information that an avalanche buried a base camp on Tuesday with these two mountaineers and their three Nepal mountain guides. Allegedly 8 other Slovaks were saved by a helicopter rescue. Intense rescue operations, with the aid of military and civil rescue workers are currently taking place in the area.
