The cooperation between Slovakia and Austria has never been better than in present times, with Prime Minister Robert Fico considering the neighbouring country to be a reliable and responsible European partner. Both states work together on developing joint projects in the sphere of infrastructure as well as the fight against unemployment amongst particularly young people.
“We're allies in further strengthening of the euro,” Fico said before meeting Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann late last evening. The joint Austrian-Slovak Economic Forum was held in Bratislava on the same day, an event that Fico perceives as a unique platform for discussion about projects and new opportunities. According to Faymann, the mutual partnership has already been put to test in the Ukrainian conflict and efforts to include Russia into the process of defusing the tension. Faymann praised Slovak economic growth, which, as he noted, is higher than the European average.
