Hundreds of police officers at the end of last week took part in a major preventive security action at the border crossing with Ukraine - in Vyšné Nemecké. The aim of the action was to detect illegal migrants and smugglers who smuggle mainly tobacco products and alcohol. According to the Bureau of Border and Foreign Police, about 700 people have crossed the eastern border since the beginning of the year, but all of them have been intercepted. Most of them were Ukrainian men. Since the start of the war, thousands of Ukrainian men have illegally crossed the Ukrainian border to dodge conscription, despite a nationwide ban prohibiting men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving.
