The Finance Ministry reported that the state-budget deficit reached €4.19 billion by the end of July 2024. Adding that the budgetary performance thus worsened by 34.5 %. This marks a significant increase compared to the previous year. State-budget income decreased, while expenditure saw a rise. Tax revenues grew, with increases in value-added tax, withholding tax, and excise taxes. However, revenue from the EU budget dropped significantly, and the cost of servicing state debt also increased. Additionally, there was a decline in expenditure related to the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
