The SNP Bridge in Bratislava is a key connection between Petržalka and the Old Town, heavily used daily by vehicles and pedestrians, and attracts about 200,000 tourists annually, according to spokesperson Peter Bubla."It can be said that its role is indispensable," stated Bubla. Until 1972, the Old Bridge was the only land connection between the left and right banks of the Danube in Bratislava. At that time, Petržalka was just a village, so there was no need for additional bridges. The construction of the SNP Bridge was driven by the development of Petržalka into a borough with large residential blocks. The planning was influenced by the socialist system, leading to the demolition of historic sites like the synagogue on Rybné Námestie square. Despite this, the SNP Bridge effectively facilitated access for construction and improved transport capacity across the Danube.
