A large number of crayfish appeared in one place in Tatranská Lomnica in the High Tatras, according to environmentalists it is a rarity. The administration of the Tatra National Park (TANAP) said on the social network that they were informed about the crayfish in the stream on Thursday (1 August) at noon. The case was taken over by the enviropolice and the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate. A large number of crayfish were found with almost no signs of life in a section of a stream. The cause of this rare situation is still unknown and will be investigated by nature protection authorities and the police. All crayfish species are protected in Slovakia as they are indicators of clean water environments.
