The Environment Fund has a new director. Minister of the Environment Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) appointed Marek Giba to the post, replacing Matej Sliška. Taraba expects Giba to continue to manage the challenges in a meaningful way, particularly focusing on building water and sewerage infrastructure and insulation of buildings. Other projects, such as the flooding in Monkova dolina, need to be dealt with flexibly, he said. “What we will definitely not support, however, are pseudo-projects of various NGOs, which have been siphoning off considerable money every year from the Enviro Fund,” Giba added.
