Slovakia prepared to fight Ebola

African countries affected by Ebola firstly need the help of epidemiologists, psychologists, social workers and experts in care for the sick, World Health Organisation (WHO) Slovak office director Darina Sedláková has told TASR. The lack of human resources currently appears to be a bigger problem than money, which was needed especially in the early stages of the epidemic, noted Sedláková.

According to the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry, no Slovak is known to be currently in countries affected by the Ebola virus. In mid-September, Slovakia contributed €15,000 towards the international struggle against Ebola. Moreover, Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák opened this issue at the Cabinet session in Žilina this week, asking other ministries to consider options of efficient help to the international struggle, in both forms of expert and material aid. Health minister Zuzana Zvolenská said on Sunday, that Slovakia is prepared to treat people affected by this virus.
