Slovakia and Hungary have jointly called for immediate action from the European Commission (EC) to stop the supply of Russian oil. This call was made by Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár after meeting with Hungarian Ambassador Csaba Balogh. Blanár and the Hungarian Foreign Minister requested the EC to investigate potential Ukrainian violations of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement regarding energy transit. Blanár criticized the Commission for delaying action, warning that oil and fuel shortages could become critical. He emphasized Slovakia's independent foreign policy and commitment to diplomatic solutions in the Ukraine conflict. Slovakia will not boycott Hungary's EU Council presidency, respecting each EU state's right to bilateral meetings. KDH MP Jozef Hajko highlighted the ongoing threat to fuel production due to the Ukraine war.
