Recovery plan payment delay due to Criminal code amendment

Recovery plan payment delay due to Criminal code amendment
Slovakia has still not received 920 million euros from the fourth payment of the recovery plan. Deputy Prime Minister for the recovery plan Peter Kmec said that the government received a letter from the European Commission, addressing their reservations against the amendment to the Criminal Code. Kmec says that the requirements from the European Commission have been met and there are no reasons for withholding the fourth payment. As of now, there is no extra money in the state budget. According to the opposition, the government also has a problem with the fifth payment from the recovery plan in the amount of almost 600 million euros. The coalition should request the payment by the end of the year. However, many points from the challenge have not yet been fulfilled, such as the reconstruction of judicial courts, digitalization in the health sector and others.
