The European Parliament (EP) decided on Thursday in a secret ballot that Ursula von der Leyen will remain President of the European Commission (EC) for a second term. Von der Leyen was supported by all six MEPs from Slovak opposition party PS, while MEPs from coalition Smer-SD, Hlas-SD and non-parliamentary Republika confirmed to TASR press agency before the election that they will vote against.
"Compared to last week, when we had a meeting with von der Leyen …, in Thursday's speech she presented priorities that are perceived as a shift in the right direction, especially in areas that we consider to be important," MEP Lubica Karvasova (PS) told TASR.
