On Tuesday, July 16, MPs will discuss the amendment to the Criminal Code, taking into account the comments of the European Commission (EC) in a shortened legislative procedure. Among other things, the amendment envisages the adjustment of criminal rates for certain criminal offences. The draft amendment mainly concerns provisions related to the protection of the financial interests of the EU. Penalties relate to criminal offenses such as obstructing the tax administration, indirect corruption and receiving and providing an improper advantage. Minister of Justice Boris Susko and Prime Minister Robert Fico claim that the amendment to the law will in no way threaten EU funds for Slovakia.
