Slovakia is currently considering providing technical assistance to the Iraqi military in its fight against Islamic State (IS), Defence Ministry spokesperson Martina Balleková told TASR on Wednesday.
“Slovakia is analysing options of military-technical assistance to the Iraqi security forces, as it has been requested,” said Balleková, adding that Slovakia won't send any troops to the conflict. Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák last month indicated that Slovakia may provide training to the Iraqi military and Kurds facing the Islamic State on Iraqi territory.
