Pope Francis greeted the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, on the occasion of Cyril and Methodius Day, a national holiday. In a letter addressed to the President, which was read aloud during Friday's liturgical celebration, he expressed his heartfelt wishes for Slovakia's prosperity.
"May your homeland continue to stand for peace and brotherhood in this part of the world. May the Slovaks, starting from their Gospel roots, continue to contribute to providing relief to the poorest and most vulnerable and work for the common good," the Pope said in the letter.
