The most up-to-date charging station for electric cars has been opened in Bratislava city centre. For a long time, there was a problem with the fact that these kind of stations were located outside city centres. The city plans to continue building more of them. According to experts, Slovakia is a little closer to improving electromobility. However, there is a lack of chargers, mainly in the regions. Deputy Transport Minister Denisa Žiláková stated that Bratislava was a priority as it has the largest number of commuters. As she added, the Ministry is planning to build these stations in other cities and municipalities.
At first the charging stations, for example at shopping centres, were free. Now, however, all of them need to be paid for. Drivers can only charge their car for free or at a discount at non-public private charging stations.
